Tommy Fury vs Eddie Hall: Fight Week at the AO Arena

Fight Week Begins

The road to Manchester actually began earlier in London at the launch press conference, where Tommy Fury and Eddie Hall came face-to-face ahead of their headline fight.

Bobby had the opportunity to speak to Eddie using the DAZN microphone, asking him what would be worse for Tommy’s reputation - being knocked out by Eddie or being beaten on points.

That set the scene for a fight week that would turn out to be anything but quiet.

Open Workouts

By Wednesday, the attention had shifted to Manchester for the public media workouts.

Fighters took turns training in the ring in front of media and fans, giving everyone an early look at how they were shaping up ahead of fight night. BobbyLAD captured plenty of footage from the workouts throughout the day.

One of the biggest moments, though, happened outside the actual training.

In the middle of a crowded media area, Jordan McCann struck Charlie Stacks, leaving Stacks with a cut mouth and temporarily putting his upcoming fight in doubt.

BobbyLAD was standing right beside the incident as it happened.

Fight Night at the AO Arena

By fight night, the atmosphere inside Manchester’s AO Arena was electric.

Luke Nevin vs Karim opened the action with an all-out brawl and immediately set the tone for the night. It was one of the most entertaining fights on the card.

Sheena Bathory vs Tina Snows ended much more quickly, with Tina overwhelmed early in what felt like a one-sided contest.

Next came Adam Brooks vs Rahim Pardesi. Pardesi entered as the younger favourite, but Brooks produced a disciplined performance, controlling much of the fight behind his jab before earning the points victory.

Jade Jones vs Federikita followed. Federikita appeared capable, but Jones looked a level above on the night and produced one of the standout technical performances on the card.

Ibiza Final Boss vs Jordan McCann

One of the most anticipated fights of the night was Ibiza Final Boss against Jordan McCann.

It quickly developed into an all-out slugfest.

McCann constantly pushed forward and swung with intent, while Ibiza Final Boss showed more composure defensively, particularly with his head movement and ability to avoid incoming shots.

It wasn’t always the most technical fight of the night, but it was certainly one of the most entertaining.

Ibiza Final Boss eventually took the victory.

Big Stacks vs Armz Korleone

This fight had nearly been cancelled following the incident involving Jordan McCann at the open workouts.

With Big Stacks carrying a mouth injury, the contest went ahead under body-shots-only rules.

That created a slightly unusual atmosphere, particularly as much of the crowd didn’t initially appear to realise why neither fighter was throwing shots to the head. The confusion led to boos during parts of the contest.

Matt Floyd vs Anthony Taylor

Then came one of the strangest moments of the night.

The fight between Matt Floyd and Anthony Taylor initially began normally before Taylor suddenly went down complaining that his eyes were burning and that he was struggling to see.

Questions were immediately raised around whether some form of balm or substance could have been transferred from Floyd during the fight.

With Taylor unable to continue, the contest was waved off, creating plenty of debate around ringside.

Ringside With BobbyLAD

Away from the action inside the ring, Bobby was interviewing people throughout the night from ringside.

One particularly memorable moment was finally getting the opportunity to interview Danny Aarons, somebody Bobby had wanted to speak to for a long time.

From the opening fight through to the main event, the night provided another full evening of interviews, content and ringside access for BobbyLAD.
